21 Theertham Ritual + Dhanushkodi Excursion
- Morning: Sacred 21 Theerthams Ritual At Ramanathaswamy Temple, there are 22 holy wells (Theerthams) inside the temple complex, each believed to have unique spiritual significance. Devotees traditionally bathe in these waters for purification. Step-by-Step Process:
- 1. Start with Agni Theertham (Sea Bath) Begin your ritual with a dip in Agni Theertham (the sea near the temple). o This symbolizes cleansing of past karmas. 2. Enter the Temple Premises o Change into fresh clothes (recommended: traditional attire). 3. Bathing in the 22 Wells
- o Temple attendants will draw water from each well and pour it over you (you don’t enter the wells). o Each well has different taste and temperature, believed to represent different sacred rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, etc. o The process usually takes 45–60 minutes. 4. Sequence Matters
- The wells are visited in a fixed traditional order, guided by temple staff or your escort. 5. Final Step
- Darshan
- o After completing all the theerthams, change into dry clothes. o Proceed for main darshan of Lord Shiva inside the temple. Later in the Day-
- Excursion to Dhanushkodi
